Harry Anderson: The crowd make a massive difference

For tonight’s match day magazine #UTI, I spoke to winger Harry Anderson about the Checkatrade Trophy run amongst other things.

We spoke about the crowd at Sincil Bank too, something that could be a deciding factor in tonight’s quest for a place in a Wembley final. The crowd has been the subject of much discussion recently, both positively and, unfortunately, negatively when sections decide to target individual players.

However, that isn’t something Harry has ever had to worry about. His adventurous and robust displays have earned him a position as a fan favourite, as has signing a three-year deal in what is now his third spell as a Lincoln City player. Harry is very unassuming, a calm and composed young man with a simple demeanour which doesn’t reflect his aggressive and bullish on-pitch persona.

He’s also got his own song, albeit a repetition of his name, but he told me when he hears it, it spurs him on.

“It’s a great feeling hearing fans singing your name. I can definitely hear it when I’m running which helps quite a bit. It’s a good feeling to have them singing your name when you’re on the pitch. It makes me want to get on the ball and do it again! I just try to keep them pleased every week.”

Tonight, the Imps come up against stars of the future, world-class youngsters with much to prove in the men’s game. They’ll be used to a lifetime of pampering, autograph hunters and selfies, but Harry tells me that isn’t much different to his own life!

“I live with Josh Vickers and we do get a few people coming up to us in town looking for photos and things!”

Hopefully that won’t be the only parity between the two sides this evening. Remember to pick up the magazine #UTI to read the interview in full.
