Stacey West XI – Strikers World Cup

In order to celebrate the upcoming World Cup in Russia and to try and get as many of your favourite strikers into the mix as possible, we’ve decided to do a ‘strikers World Cup’ to decide who makes the final XI of our Stacey West side.

So far Alan Marriott, Neal Eardley, Phil Neale, Gareth McAuley, Trevor Peake, Glenn Cockerill, Peter Gain, Dave Smith and Gareth Ainsworth make up our first team. David Felgate, Mark Bailey, Paul Mayo, Paul Morgan, Sean Raggett, Graham Bressington, Michael Bostwick, David Puttnam and Darren Huckerby comprise the reserves. Who will feature as the strikers?

We’re going to be taking nominations for a week or two, via Twitter and here. Once we’ve got a lit we’ll have a draw, arranging the players into groups for a vote. If you don’t have access to Twitter, don’t despair, there will be groups on here as well. Eventually, we’ll have our best four strikers ready to take their place in the Stacey West XI.

Once that is over, what next? well, we’re planning to do a Stacey West Worst All Time XI too, so get your thinking caps on.

Anyway, comment below or on Twitter and start nominating those strikers. There is a caveat though: the nominated players must have reached double figures for Lincoln.

  1. Gary Taylor Fletcher, Dixie McNeil, Andy Graver, Jamie Forrester, Percy Freeman, John Ward

  2. Alick Jeffery. Only scored 3 goals in the 69/70 season he was here but this guy was always a different higher class of player

  3. Alick Jeffery.. whilst he only scored 3 goals in the single season he was here, the guy was always a different class.

  4. Graver, Fletcher, McNeil, Freeman, Ward, Peter Graham, Hobson, Harford, Bell, Broughton.

I’ll leave the later nominations to the kids.

Wups! Nomination for the worst XI slipped in by mistake….

  5. PS -Always loved that pic, the look on the falling defender’s face as Hobbo skips away from him, and is that not Sam Allardyce also trailing in the stellar wake?
