Grant Smith becomes arrival number four

City have today secured the signing of former England C international Grant Smith, the second former Boreham Wood player to join the club.

The former Hayes and Yeading keeper played 51 times for Boreham Wood as they just missed out on a spot in the Football League. He joins Bruno Andrade as the second former Wood player to link up with City this summer.

In 2017, the 24-year old represented his country against Slovakia after being a part of England C’s three-day training camp at Lilleshall, and was rewarded for his impressive performances with a full call up. He signs a two-year deal with the club.

Danny Cowley told the club’s official site; “He has a fantastic attitude and has a real desire to improve and get better and he’s going to make it a really good fight for the number one spot. That’s what we want, we want competition in all places, that competition is so important.”

Smith has previously had spells with Reading and Fulham before signing a deal with Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion. Following that he moved to Bognor which is where Luke Garrard snapped him up from in July 2016.

The Imps were in the hunt for a keeper, amongst others, following the departure of long-serving stopper Paul Farman to Stevenage.

  1. If the player has the right attitude and not the big I am mentality who is a team player then you have to look at them. 20 plus goals striker is a must as well as a player who has high assist rates comes into play too. You will get goals from all over the team.
