Club Statement Released – It’s official I’m afraid

Sadly, as predicted, Danny and Nicky have left Lincoln City.

Horrible words to write, horrible. An official club statement has confirmed the news, saying:

“Lincoln City Football Club can confirm that Danny and Nicky Cowley have left Sincil Bank in order to take up new roles with Huddersfield Town Football Club.

The Terriers have triggered a release clause in the contracts of Danny and Nicky enabling them to discuss and ultimately accept new positions with the West Yorkshire Club.

The Board remain fully focused on creating an environment that provides the conditions for continued success on and off the field.
Lincoln City’s Chairman, Clive Nates, said “Danny and Nicky leave with our best wishes and we sincerely hope they go on to have further success in their careers. We have achieved unprecedented success over the past three years which has allowed us to transform all aspects of the Club ensuring we are in a strong position to continue that progress.”

The club have begun the process of appointing a new manager and will provide updates on the recruitment process as appropriate.

Jamie McCombe and Andy Warrington will be taking charge of first team affairs with support from Jez George, the club’s Head of Football, until a new management team is appointed.”

It’s believed no further statement will be made at this time, which is pretty much exactly my stance on the situation right now. I’ve had a say here, which is what I’ll stick to until I’ve let my anger subside.

  1. These 2 men and their support staff and players have given us a fabulous ride, and I certainly feel they should leave with our blessing.
My only disappointment is the timing of this move,I had really believed that they always displayed what looked like a sincere level of decency and honour, and that when the time came to move it would be in a close season situation.
However,we all knew this would happen sometime,so hopefully onwards and upwards for both the Imps and the Cowleys, don’t brood on it !!

  2. I came out of the woodwork to enjoy the success generated by Danny, Nicky and their support team. They were always destined for bigger things and I hope this is not too soon for them.
I wish Managers were subject to the same movement restrictions as players.
Furthermore, I hope the great work they did for our community, especially youngsters, is not undermined by the sneaky manner of their going.
    Grateful for three fantastic years.

  3. People really need to get a grip. Sensational and dramatic column inches wasted on an event which was always going to happen. The club has been here for 135 years and countless managers have been, done a job and gone. It’s a simple fact. Nobody has died. Move on.
