Imps Round-up – Man Utd youngster linked, Gaffer pleased with Scunthorpe win

Two Rumours Debunked

I’ve been hearing whispers about us being interested in Largie Ramazani for some time and I’ve not given them much attention as frankly, I don’t believe them at all. Still, they’ve resurfaced today along with a link between us and Victor Anichebe.

The Anichebe thing is more likely, but still not something that I think is likely to happen. It seems someone has put two and two together and wildly missed the mark by getting five. Yes, Anichebe was at West Brom and yes, Michael Appleton was too. I was once at QEGS in Horncastle, as was Peep Show star Robert Webb, but I’ve never met him and wouldn’t be a front-runner if he got a new show.

Also, MA said that the trialists have been with us training as well as playing in the game against Scunthorpe. That surely rules out Anichebe, who has only just left Doncaster Rovers. Whilst it is plausible, I’m not sure it’s accurate at all.

On to Ramzani and again, I imagine the link has come because Michael once played for Man Utd and his first home game featured Man Utd kids. Their youth players look ready for senior action and League One has become a hotbed of Premier League talent thriving (Ben Sheaf, Ben Woodburn, Callum O’Hare etc). It would stand to reason we try (again) to loan a player from the top flight to have an impact and as we’re light on forwards, the circumstantial evidence mounts.

18-year-old Ramzani made his senior debut in the Europa League last week and is surely destined for bigger things, perhaps a loan spell to a European club or even into the Championship. I just can’t see him coming here, not with his pedigree and not having seen the likes of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Matty Willock essentially ruined by dodgy loan spells.

Sorry lads, but the rumours are going to have to be better than that.
