Michael Appleton is set to celebrate his first away victory as Lincoln City manager by sitting down for a live podcast tomorrow night with myself and Ben.
Fresh from beating Burton 2-0, the boss will be set to talk to us about his career so far, recounting amusing stories and giving us a glimpse into the man behind the manager, Michael Appleton as a person, not as Lincoln City boss.
We saw lots of the previous manager as a person, the relationship he had with his brother made him very personable and relatable and we’re hoping to get to the other side of Michael tomorrow night, explore his motivations and hopefully his lighter side too.
He’s certainly looking forward to it and it sounds like he is ready to show us a bit more of who he is, over and above being out manager.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” he said when I asked him about it earlier in the weekend.
“With things like the podcast people get to see you in a different light, they get to see you a little more relaxed, not just at the side of a pitch or in a press conference.
“It’s an opportunity to see the softer side of us all. It is important, sometimes people make a judgement of you without really knowing the truth. I think it’s good, it’s great to get involved and it’s something that I have done in the past. It’s good to get the opportunity to do it.”
Michael has previously done the NTT20 podcast with George Elek, an Oxford fan who held Michael is such high-esteem following their success under his watchful eye. Whilst our manager has no pressing need to bare his soul, nor win people over, he’s still eager to come on and take part which is exciting for us.
There has also been an exciting development in that we are seemingly set to be joined by a player too! Harry Toffolo is now thought to be hoping to pop in, and Liam Scully will also be there. It promises to be a really exciting night and hopefully the start of several exciting ventures we have planned for the podcast.
We’re set to record tomorrow night at 6 pm, with invited guests able to come along at 5.30 pm to get seated or mingle for half an hour. Depending on Ben, we’ll then be releasing two parts, one hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday and the other deeper in the week.
