Tonight, at 7.30 pm on Facebook, you’ll get a chance to see the Stacey West Lockdown Quiz Grand Final.
Initially, I had hoped that we’d have the final a week ago to coincide with the lockdown being lifted, but neither happened. We finish tonight, but we must look into how the format can continue, at least during the lockdown. Our champion will be announced this evening, but the live format has proved popular.
Anyhow, tonight we see a clash that has been two decades in the making, It was back at the turn of the century when Kev Barwise and Jon Leonard, alongside others, took part in an ITV Digital competition proving their Imps knowledge. A decent top 20 finish out of the clubs proved their knowledge was strong, but it’s taken almost 20 years to get a chance to find out which of these Imps’ behemoths is the best.
Will it be Kev, the 80s mastermind with a gap in his knowledge post-relegation? Or will it be Jon, impressive throughout and a great all-rounder? Both scraped through tough quarter-finals, both romped through their semi-finals in confident moods. Tonight, only one will be crowned our quiz champion of the lockdown.
What of Dave Tindall, another of the group? Perhaps his internet and reaction ruled him out of the qualifiers, but will he make an appearance in a spin-off show after the event? Who knows…..
The prize on offer tonight is this: a club shop voucher to the tune of £30 (although that will have to be delivered after the lockdown), a copy of one of my books (whichever they want that I currently have on the shelf) and a programme signed by Michael Appleton from his time here as a player. It’s a great prize for any Imps’ fan to win and tonight, one will.
If you missed the semi-finals, here they are in their full glory.
