Imps Launch Lockdown-Friendly Summer School

The Lincoln City Foundation has launched its summer school, providing an excellent solution to parents over the summer.

Children aged 5 to 11 years are eligible to join up for the summer, which runs from Monday 27th July 2020 to Friday 28th August 2020. The school has been created to help some of those affected by the recent pandemic. School closures have led to slower rates of learning and the Lincoln City Foundation have created an innovative summer 2020 programme to support children with their physical, social and mental wellbeing.

The innovative project will run every weekday from 9.00am until 3.00pm, and will look to add significant value to the participating children’s development at (hopefully) the end of a period which has seen them impacted severely. It will build on the previously successful holiday club and will provide children with an exciting day of fun-filled activities based around education and sport, with a minimum of 2 hours sports and 2 hours learning courtesy of qualified teachers and coaches.

Raj Randhawa, the charity’s Community Manager said: “We are really excited to launch our brand-new Summer School to our community. We have had people contacting us almost every day, desperate for a childcare solution over the summer and we are thrilled to be able to provide it for them.

“We have spent a lot of time going through government guidelines to ensure that we were able to provide a safe, fun environment for the children, parents and our staff.

“There will, of course, be additional safety measures in place, which will make the sporting activities we run over the summer different to our usual offering. However, we are confident children will still come away with the usual smiles on their faces and we can’t wait to welcome them.”

The school will be priced at £25 per day and the Foundation anticipates that there will be a high demand for the spaces, and are thus advising people to book early to avoid disappointment.

For those who may be concerned about social distancing, they have also confirmed that there will be full compliance with all the latest government guidelines which ensure your child’s safety. Just like within schools, children will be placed in bubbles of 15 children according to their year group with a different drop off and pick up point for each bubble.
