Alleged Imps Target Makes Scottish Championship Move

I’m a little late to the party here, but the Imps reported interest in Kevin O’Hara is at an end after the player made the move to Dunfermline on Friday.

He was one of three targets we were linked with by Sun journalist Alan Nixon a while ago and as I understand it, he was someone we may have expressed an interest in, but it seems the lure of remaining north of the border was a little too much. The 21-year-old signs a three-year deal with the Pars and a compensation package has been agreed between the two clubs. That in itself could have been a potential sticking point as there is little likelihood of us signing a player for a cash fee after the summer we’ve just had.

The move isn’t a universally popular one in Scotland, despite the striker’s decent goals to games ratio. Three years ago, O’Hara was handed an eight-game ban by the Scottish FFA after an incident with Pars midfielder Dean Shiels. Towards the end of the game, which Pars lost 2-0, Shiels was sent off for a late challenge late on in the game, but afterwards, O’Hara made malicious comments about Shiels’ missing eye. It will be interesting to see how he settles in.

In other transfer news, Steve Evans has admitted the Imps have signed a quality footballer in James Jones, who he just missed out on. It was documented at the time that Gillingham were interested in the midfielder, but he opted to make the free move to City on a three-year deal. Evans, the pantomime villain of the division, admitted he spoke to Jones but that Michael had the deal tied up before a second call.

“The deal was done before I could pick up the phone a second time. Michael Appleton has got himself an outstanding young player,” he said.

Of the three who were linked, there has been no confirmation over the destination of Connor Kirby, nor Theo Archibald, the former Celtic winger linked with us for over four months now. However, Michael Hortin suggested that there may be transfer news this week in what promises to be a busy one for the club. It is widely expected the new kit will drop this week after a teaser appeared on social media.
