8 – Kevin Kilmore
Kilmore had already played for Scunthorpe and Grimsby by the time he landed at Sincil Bank, and had a modest strike rate, if not an impressive one. At Scunthorpe, where he came through as a youth, he scored 28 times in 102 appearances. He then moved to Grimsby where he formed a lethal partnership with Kevin Drinkell, bagging 31 goals between them as Grimsby won the Third Division. He later followed manager George Kerr to Rotherham, where he bagged 21 goals in the 1983/84 season.
By 1985/86, he was reunited with Kerr as City were relegated. He scored four goals though, and it was hoped he’d do well with Gary Lund the following season as City hunted promotion back to the Third Division. He looked like a proven scorer on paper, but he flopped. He scored just twice as we were relegated.
