Over and out – 22-y/o departs Sincil Bank

The first move of deadline day has taken place, with defender Aaron Lewis leaving the club.

The Wales Under 21 international joined on a short-term contract in the summer of 2019 but struggled to break into Danny Cowley’s first-team plans, despite impressive outings against Huddersfield and Everton in the EFL Trophy. He was handed a deal by Michael Appleton upon the new manager’s arrival but suffered from a number of niggly injuries which seemingly kept him out of the side.

He did make an appearance away at Accrington as we lost 4-3, scoring a goal, but he hasn’t been seen in the first team since. He was loaned out to Newport earlier this season, but made just a single appearance for the Exiles before returning to Sincil Bank. Michael Appleton made it very clear earlier in the window that we’d try to find a new club for Aaron, but as that clearly hasn’t happened, he now has the chance to find one for himself.

The 22-year-old has become a free agent before the deadline passes, meaning if he doesn’t find a club today, he can move somewhere without an issue later in the season.

A handful of Imps fans have left their comments on social media, wishing Aaron all the best for the future.
