Lincoln City duo Remy Howarth and Anthony Scully have both penned extensions to their existing deals with the club.

Remy Howarth, who joined the Imps from Cefn Druids in the summer, has penned a one-year extension to his current deal. He initially joined City on a short-term deal after impressing in pre-season and has gone on to appear 17 times for City, netting twice. He scored his first professional Football league goal as we defeated Burton 5-1, and suffered penalty agony in the EFL Trophy semi-final.

Remy will put that disappointment behind him now as he focuses on another season with the Imps.

“I couldn’t be happier and prouder to be a part of this football club, I have enjoyed my time so far working under the Gaffer,” he told the club’s official site. I’m so grateful for the support of the fans and I look forward to feeling their support behind us in the stadium soon.”

Michael added his comments too, praising the 23-yeard old. “Remy is a young player who has worked very hard this season. We are delighted to see him commit himself to the club beyond this season.”

The second new contract of the day has been handed to former West Ham man Anthony Scully, who is enjoying a strong season. He penned a one-and-a-half-year deal after arriving in February 2019, and it is believed the club had an option to extend that until 2022. Instead, a fresh deal has been negotiated which keeps him at Sincil Bank until the summer of 2023.

“Being a Lincoln player has been the happiest I’ve felt in football and I look forward to the next few years together and what we can achieve,” said Scully, who has 12 goals from 34 outings this season. “Also, I want to say a massive thank you to all of the fans for the support they have shown since I’ve joined, I can’t wait to have them all back in the stadium and enjoy the journey together.”

Scully has certainly been in wonderful form, winning the Stacey West Player of the Month for January, and it is little surprise Michael also spoke highly of the forward saying: “We are really pleased to keep Anthony at the club beyond this season. He has developed well over the last 12 months and will help continue to improve and grow the club in the next few years. He’s a great lad to have around the place and I’m looking forward to watching him develop.”

The fact both players have opted to sign the deals is good news for City. In Remy’s case, it sees the continuation of a wonderful story and gives him a chance to firmly establish himself as a key squad player. With Scully, there is an element of him becoming a fan favourite, and to know he is now committed to the squad for the long term is excellent news, especially given how successful his first full season has been so far.
