This week sees the visit of Rochdale, the first time they’ve been to the Bank since 2010.
They didn’t come to us last season by virtue of the early finish, meaning that with our EFL Trophy tie in 2017/18, we’ve been there three times, twice in the league, without them returning the favour. The last time they came to us was back in the reign of Chris Sutton, in the season Peter Jackson was fired.
On that occasion, one I recall well, Chris Herd bagged a belter for City, only for Dale to win 3-1. It was a point at which we’d gone over the top of the rollercoaster that is the last two decades and were plunging towards the bottom with no brakes.
Are they going to turn us over ten years on? Or will we continue our good record against them recently, two wins and a draw? To help you get to the bottom of it, we’ve got Jake Tonge on the case, this week chatting to Dean Smith of @RochdaleAFCcom.
