Lincoln 3-1 Morecambe & Lincoln 3-2 Newport County
But that’s two matches, I hear you cry. Yup, that’s right, I make no apologies, it’s my site.
I’ve picked two home games, in the deep winter of 2018. We were on a title charge but had lost at Colchester and drawn with Oldham and Mansfield as we headed into December. The nights were short, the wind bitterly cold, but it was easy to get warmed up when our number 26 put us in seventh heaven, literally, on successive Saturdays.
Morecambe were struggling and we should have been beating them, but that doesn’t always mean we do. I don’t think I’ve ever been as cold as I was that afternoon, but Harry’s seventh-minute strike put a bit of warmth in the body, setting us up for a three-goal lead before half time. Newport were a different matter, a decent side with play-off ambition, and by the time minute seven came around that afternoon, John Akinde had already put us 1-0 up. Harry made it two at the South Park end of the ground with a shot that became something of a trademark, across the keeper after cutting in. It was the last game before Christmas and Harry certainly delivered a present for us all. He bagged again on Boxing Day as we went down 2-1 to Crewe too.
