The Imps welcome Bolton Wanderers to Sincil Bank this Tuesday, looking to repeat the last result we had against them at home.
It was a chilly night back in 2019 when they were put to the sword by five goals to one, but the repeat fixture this season won’t be anywhere near as straightforward. That night is perhaps best remembered as Harry Toffolo’s last game for the club, and hopefully, this one will be remembered more for the football than who left afterwards.
Who is the referee for the game? you’re about to find out!
Referee: Sam Barrott,
Assistant Referee: Joe Clark, Bradley Hall
Fourth Official: Lee Freeman
Sam Barrott is a second-year official, one of a number of referees who were promoted to the EFL last summer, having previously been seen taking charge of matches at Gainsborough Trinity’s level. He is a former footballer too, something I don’t think we see enough of. He had appeared at a decent standard for Halifax Town youth sides, but injury cut his career short and he turned to officiating. We have had him twice at the Bank, firstly during the 6-2 win against Forest Green in the FA Cup this season. His second game was a little more challenging, he took charge of our 3-0 home defeat against the robust Gillingham side and their belligerent manager, handing out six yellow cards.
His card count was modest last season, just four reds in 32 games, one of which was handed to Bolton as they lost 1-0 at home to Crawley.
