Imps Attacker Returns From Injury

The Imps Head Coach Mark Kennedy has confirmed that Danny Mandroiu will be fit and ready for selection for tomorrow’s encounter with Bolton Wanderers.

Mandroiu has had a tough time since joining from Shamrock Rovers, spending a prolonged time out injured before an explosive introduction. He nabbed the October Player of the Month award before again being ruled out.

He returned to the squad recently but was absent from the Boxing Day massacre at Burton. However, Mark has now confirmed Mandroiu will be fit for tomorrow’s game.

Usually, this is where we put a long quote, but there’s little to read! Rob Makepeace asked MK if it was too soon for the forward’s return, to which Mark replied, “No, Danny is available for selection”.

There you have it!

Mandroiu joined the Imps in July from Shamrock, making his debut as we sank to a 2-0 defeat against Bolton in October. He hit three in three games shortly after, including the leveller against Sheffield Wednesday and a winner at Barnsley, but picked up an injury following the 1-0 defeat at Port Vale on October 29th.

He was back, albeit briefly, as we drew 0-0 with Wycombe, but came off towards the end of the Southampton game, subsequently missing the debacle at the Pirelli. Imps fans will now be hoping the 24-year-old can add a little additional spark ahead of two challenging matches on either side of New Year’s Eve.

He’ll likely be joined in the squad by Ted Bishop, also on the comeback trail, as we hunt a strong finish to 2022, and a positive start to 2023.
