The Imps are due to welcome two injured players back into the squad, but it will be too soon for Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow.
The team travels to Sheffield with both Sean Roughan and Carl Rushworth back from international duty, whilst Paudie O’Connor misses out, serving the second game of his suspension. We’ll also be without Lewis Montsma, who is due for an MRI scan on his current injury. The severity, or lack of it, is undetermined until the results of that scan.
That means the Imps will likely have a back three of Adam Jackson, Sean Roughan, and Regan Poole, with Lasse Sorensen and Harry Boyes on the flanks. However, that situation could soon change, as Mark Kennedy revealed two defenders are now back on the grass, with a view to an imminent return.
TJ Eyoma has not played since February 28th and the 1-1 draw with MK Dons, after coming off just after half time. Joe Walsh, out of contract at the end of the season, has also missed matches, having only appeared once for the club since the turn of the year, in the 2-1 defeat at Charlton.
Both are now training on the grass and due for an imminent return. Joe has had a torrid two-and-a-half years at the club, starting just 39 League One matches during his stay, whilst TJ has appeared 33 times across all competitions this season.
Their return won’t come in time to save us from cobbling a defence together against the Owls, but they will certainly boost the first-team ranks through the final five weeks of the season.
Mark said there were no further injury concerns, which could mean the return of Charles Vernam to the squad. With Diamond’s loan being terminated, it could mean a reprieve for the former Burton man, who has missed out on the last two matchday squads.
