Imps Roundup – Targets, Transfers and News

My apologies; I’ve been tied up this last week with my wedding party, a vow renewal from June 1st, in front of our family and friends. That meant I missed a few things I might otherwise have covered.

With that in mind, I’m going to do a quick roundup of news around former players, targets, transfers and other bits. Strap yourself in for a little ride!

Transfer In – Lukas Jensen

First, former Burnley keeper Lukas Jensen is another one through the door. This boy is big – 6ft 6in, so he’s going to be an imposing presence in the sticks. I do like a big keeper – Tomas Holy is one I always liked at Ipswich, so Jensen certainly fits the bill. He’s described as having a good command of his box and being a strong shot-stopper – he’s going to have to be good to match Carl Rushworth from last season.

It’s a change in tactic from previous years where we’ve borrowed a young keeper, and I guess given that the three we have had have all gone on to do relatively well, it makes business sense to try to reflect that success with our own keeper. In Sam Long and Jordan Wright, we have two other young keepers who could also go on to better things. However, we can’t play them all.

Accrington fans like Jensen for his commitment, passion and for a game away at Bolton during which I’m told he was sensational. Carl Rushworth and Alex Palmer have been two of the best keepers I’ve ever seen wearing Imps’ colours – if Jensen gets near those, then it’ll do for me.
