SW Podcast Former Player Special #4 – Matt Carmichael

Welcome to the first of our podcasts in association with the Former Players Association.

It’s numbered 4, as we have previously spoken to Gavin Gordon, Mark Hone and Roger Holmes. However, this is the first in a new series hosted by Gary and former Lincoln City player Paul De Garis.

This week, we’re talking to Matt Carmichael, who was signed by the Imps in 1989 from the army. Matt made 156 appearances for the Imps, scoring 21 goals and winning the club’s Player of the Year award in 1991/92.

He later played for Scunthorpe, Preston, Mansfield, Doncaster and Darlington before returning to the club as backroom staff in 2007.

Hear his opinions on the modern game, how he appeared on the continent when English clubs were banned, and how he once drove to pick up sweets in a DB9.
