Mixed Injury News Ahead of Port Vale Encounter

The Imps head coach, Michael Skubala, has delivered mixed injury news in his press conference ahead of this weekend’s fixture with Port Vale.

City take a seven-match unbeaten run to Vale Park to face a side with one win in 12, and just two points in 2024. However, they’re under new management, with former Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore taking over from Andy Crosby.

The Imps have been without some key players of late, one of which is influential winger Reeco Hackett, who missed the win against Exeter. He is expected to play a part this weekend.

“Reeco’s close,” Michael admitted in this week’s press conference.”We think he will take some part in Saturday, which is great. We’re just getting through today, tomorrow and then see.”

There are two players who, it seems, will definitely miss out. One is striker Freddie Draper, who has been absent for a couple of weeks. The other, defender Adam Jackson, is back in training after a Jayden Stockley elbow broke his nose. However, both are unlikely to feature against the Valiants.

“Freddie’s out at the minute, so we think he’s probably 10 / 14 days away. Jacko’s in a mask back in training, but we think that’s probably a bit too early for this Saturday.”

That isn’t the end of the bad news. Ethan Hamilton missed the draw with Charlton but returned against Exeter. However, it seems as if he may have exacerbated his previous injury, meaning he could miss out this weekend.

“We’re not sure with Ethan at the moment what’s going on with him. We’ll see because he’s obviously been out with an injury and then back in, and that might have flared up again.

“That could be something or nothing. We’re just waiting for him to see a specialist.”

That likely means another start for Ben House alongside Joe Taylor up front, with McGrandles and Erhahon in midfield, with Ted Bishop starting. Elsewhere, the back three will likely remain the same, Alex Mitchell keeping his place alongside captain Paudie O’Connor and Sean Roughan.
