Danny Cowley has just issued his thoughts on the speculation linking him with Ipswich, by underlining the commitment him and Nicky have to Lincoln City.
BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s James Williams asked for his reaction and Danny reiterated the previous rhetoric about leaving the club:
“Our focus, as always, remains wholeheartedly here at Lincoln City,” he said: “We’re always eternally thankful for the opportunity here, we’ve been shown a lot of loyalty by the people of Lincoln, when we’re shown loyalty we like to reciprocate.”
Strong words indeed, but only the same message as when Colin Murray jokingly asked about the Barcelona job. He continued.
“For us the total focus is here. We worked hard, day in, day out from the end of last season to put us in this position. It would be crazy to think of anything other than Lincoln City.”
Danny has emerged as the bookies favourite in the hours after news of Mick McCarthy’s departure, along with former England manager Steve McClaren. Twitter seems to suggest McClaren has already been approached, but Ipswich fans do seem keen to see Danny in the frame.
? #ITFC manager for hire! ?
Mick McCarthy is out the door at Ipswich at the end of the season.
2/1 fav to replace him is #Imps' Danny Cowley.
Tony Mowbray is 4th fav at 10/1 – thoughts, @KDeller138 ?

Desperate time for Ipswich with McCarthy going highly doubt many others could achieve what he did on his budget wouldn’t mind Danny Cowley from Lincoln taking the job though

Happy because I think it's good for the Club. Both Mick & fans created a situation that was unsustainable. Really hope we try something new Manager wise and not go for the 'usual suspects'. I'd take Cowley in a heartbeat.

Cowley’s have said they don’t want it, but my experience of football is that money talks. If we dangle a big enough carrot with a proper contract (not this rolling bollocks), I think they would have second thoughts. If we as a club want them, then we should buy some big carrots

No way they’ll leave. I don’t gamble, but I’d put money on it.
