No penalties here for one of the most natural finishers I’ve ever seen in a Lincoln shirt. Bold prediction – if Hearn and Rhead had stayed fit and played 40 games each that season, we’d have been promoted a year earlier than we were.
This game was crazy – 2-0 down after six minutes, we led 3-2 after 26. Rhead bagged another on 49, and Hearn completed his hat trick on 73.

Ah, Matt Rhead, the only player on this list to hit three and still not win the game. One was a penalty, but this game was kind of a low for the Imps. We were surely favourites and a place in the second round waited for us.
We’d even beaten Tranmere in qualifying, and yet somehow, despite the big man’s triple, we still got beat 5-3.
