The Imps have named the skipper for this season, and it is a surprise to nobody that the honour goes to last season’s Player of the Season, Tendayi Darikwa.
The right back says it is a proud moment to be made captain of Lincoln City and is looking forward to helping a young squad go on to have a successful season.
He said: “I try do my best on the pitch, but around the Elite Performance Centre and at games I try to give my advice to some of the younger players help them make the most of their careers.

“We’ve got a good mix of youth and experience, and the young lads have played a lot of football. We showed towards the end of last season that we’re capable of going up against anyone.”
Darikwa – who previously captained Wigan Athletic to the Sky Bet League One title – also believes the backing of Imps supporters can help his side succeed on the pitch this season.
He added: “The fans have been great with myself since I’ve been at the club, I’m sure they’ll continue to come out in good numbers and support us.

“They have a massive role for us and can give us an extra push going into games or in a tough moment. Hopefully we can do them proud.”
City’s head coach Michael Skubala added: “Tendayi wears the badge with pride and shows every day what he’s about with his attitude to training and how he sets standards on and off the pitch.
“He is really respected within the group and has the humility to understand there are other leaders in the group alongside him. I also know how much Ten loves the club and the fans love him.”

On the podcast recently, we all suggested Tendayi would be a suitable captain and the standout candidate from the current crop. Given his outstanding campaign for us last season, this feels like absolutely the right pick for the club.
