Michael Skubala has admitted the club still has ‘more to do’ as we go into the final days of the transfer window.
Having secured our fifth summer signing, Oscar Thorn, the squad is looking deeper, but Ethan Hamilton’s exit and the ongoing search for a left back, mean we’ll be active as the weekend progresses.
Our hunt for a left back took a hit last night as Josh Honohan progressed into the Conference League knockout stages with Shamrock Rovers, but even if that hadn’t happened, the next few days were likely to be busy, as Michael admitted.
“I think it was always the case that this last week always gets quite busy, lots of things happening,” Michael said ahead of this weekend’s visit of local rivals Mansfield Town.
“It’s not only making sure we want to keep people in the building that we need to move forward, but as you saw then, we’re doing quite well at the minute, so people will be looking at our players.
“So that’s one thing. And then the second thing is adding to the depth that we’ve got around the group. We saw in moments, Ivan (Varfolomeev), what he brings to the team and the energy he’ll bring in there.
“We obviously love Ethan Hamilton, so we’re looking to replace Ethan with what we think’s right, to make sure we’ve got the right depth in midfield.”

The pink-booted Varfolomeev made his full Imps debut on Tuesday night in the win against Burton Albion, showing plenty of energy and endeavour. However, he came in to replace Ethan Erhahon, and with Etham Hamilton joining Dundee, it’s not believed we’re looking to add another central midfield player to the squad.
One area we’re unlikely to add to is the front three. With Jovon Makama leaving, we needed a recruit, and we got two – Frankie Okoronkwo from Everton and, most recently, prospect Oscar Thorn from Colchester United.
“We’ve added Oscar Thorne, as a young player that’s coming out of League 2 who we think’s got high potential, and will be part of the squad as well,” said Michael.
“So it’s great news for us on that front. We’ve still got more to do, we know that. We’re trying our hardest and the recruitment team are working overtime from now until the end of the window to see if we can keep adding.”

This window is a little different in that it closes at 7 pm, not 11 pm. Rest assured, we’re going to be with you all the way, with our live Deadline Day broadcast starting at 4 pm with the regular podcast, then carrying on at 5 pm with our full special.
Unlike the last two windows, we might actually have some Lincoln City action to talk about!
