Huddersfield Town have been buying again, but this time, it’s not a player they’re paying for.
Instead, they have secured full ownership of the Accu Stadium (their home stadium, the McAlpine as we know it) after concluding long-running talks.
The Terriers will now take sole control of the ground after buying out their partners, Kirklees Council and Super League side Huddersfield Giants, who will remain tenants for the 2026 season.
Chairman Kevin Nagle described the deal as a landmark moment.
“Following extensive discussions, we are delighted to have secured full operational control of our home at the Accu Stadium,” he said. “We understand deeply the significance of the venue as both a sporting and entertainment destination.”
Nagle added that the move strengthens both Town’s footballing and community role. “Huddersfield Town has a proud 117-year history within the town, and we are proud to have secured the next 300 years of our future here, too.”
The stadium has been home since 1994 following the departure from Leeds Road, and the decision provides clarity over future investment and matchday operations.
With the team sat fifth in League One, the off-field step adds to on-field momentum as Town seek a quick return to the Championship.
