Alexander Urges Bradford to ‘Respect Themselves’

Early pacesetters, Bradford City, have been praised by manager Graham Alexander. He has challenged his players to match their stature with performances, insisting they must “respect themselves” after recent results. Speaking after another demanding fixture, Alexander praised the group’s work ethic but underlined the importance of consistency and accountability.

“My reference point is my own playing career. If I had a manager who talked about the opposition more than me or the team, it peed me off. It made me feel that they didn’t believe in us and what we did
“Then with the ones that always talked about what we could produce, I’d think ‘yeah, this is what we’re about’. I want my players to have that feeling I had. That’s how I try to do things.”

The Bantams remain at the head of the League One pack, bettered only by Stevenage, and showing sustained rhythm. Alexander’s message was clear: attitude and belief must underpin any progress.

His approach has been well received among supporters keen for a stable, disciplined side capable of competing with the division’s front-runners.
