A handful of former Imps were in the thick of the action this week, despite the relatively small football calendar.
With only one EFL clash happening midweek, you wouldn’t expect to see two former Imps on the scoresheet, but that is what happened in Monday’s televised game.
In Harrogate’s 2-1 defeat against Crewe, Jack Muldoon opened the scoring for Simon Weaver’s side. Max Sanders ran half the pitch to smash in a 25-yard winner on 87 minutes for the Railwaymen after Reece Hutchinson had restored parity.

In the EFL Trophy, a place where fringe players often get a runout, we saw one of our summer exits involved. Tyler Walker’s only Imps outing last season came in the same competition, and he bagged himself an assist for Barrow, who went on to lose 2-1 to Tranmere Rovers
Robbie Gotts was an impressive loanee for us, grabbing his only goal in Imps colours as we hammered Accrington 4-0. Last night, he was something of a hero for Doncaster, bagging a brace before 15 minutes had passed against Grimsby Town. The game ended 3-0 to the visitors.
Fleetwood were also big victors, beating Leeds Under 21s 4-0. James Norwood got a hat trick, the second of which was assisted by Matty Virtue. The one-time Blackpool midfielder has nine goals in 56 outings for the Cod Army.

There was a current Imp or two in action last night as well. Zane Okoro got 25 minutes for Coleraine as they thrashed Dollingstown 8-0 in the Northern Ireland League Cup. He wasn’t on the scoresheet, but his introduction, rather than a start, was evidence of him being saved for all-important league action.
MJ Kamara was also in action in the same competition. His Glentoran side had a tougher time, beating Institute 1-0. Kamara was booked in the 39th minute and withdrawn at half-time, one of four changes made to freshen things up.
