Former Imps Round-Up: Goals, Assists, and Familiar Faces Across the Leagues

It was another busy weekend for former Lincoln City players, with goals, assists, and familiar names appearing across the UK and Ireland.

From the Scottish Premiership to the National League, and even into Northern Ireland, a number of ex-Imps made their mark.

Scotland and the Championship

In the Scottish Premiership, Dan Nlundulu opened the scoring for St Mirren with an 18th-minute goal. However, it proved in vain, as the Buddies went down 3–1 to Dundee United, who struck twice in the final six minutes to seal victory.

At the Swansea.com Stadium, Jovon Makama equalised for Norwich City in the 42nd minute of their game against Swansea City. Unfortunately for the Canaries, the hosts went on to win 2–1, a result that only increases the pressure on Norwich boss Liam Manning.

League Two: Crewe and Grimsby Share a Thriller

There was drama at Gresty Road where Crewe Alexandra beat Grimsby Town 3–2 in a remarkable encounter. It was 2–2 at half-time, with Emre Tezgel scoring twice for Crewe, both assisted by Tommi O’Reilly while Walker netted both Grimsby goals, each created by Amoluzor.

The winner came late on, Tezgel completing his hat-trick in the 87th minute, and there was an Imps connection as well — the decisive assist came from Max Sanders.

Oldham and Shrewsbury Play Out 2–2 Draw

At Boundary Park, Oldham Athletic and Shrewsbury Town drew 2–2 in a game full of Lincoln City links.
Oldham’s line-up included Jake Caprice at right-back, Jamie Robson at left-back, and Tom Pett in midfield.

Shrewsbury’s side featured Sam Clucas in midfield, Anthony Scully on the left, and John Marquis on the bench, alongside Tom Anderson.

Both teams’ first goals came from former Imps. Scully opened the scoring for Shrewsbury on 46 minutes, before Pett levelled for Oldham just five minutes later. The sides eventually shared the points.

National League

In the National League, Vadaine Oliver rolled back the years with a 16th-minute opener for Hartlepool United in their 2–0 win over Solihull Moors. Jay Benn also featured, completing the full 90 minutes for Hartlepool.

In the National League North, Worksop Town were beaten 2–1 away at Telford United. Former Imp Jordan Burrow had briefly levelled the scores with a 23rd-minute goal, while Luke Waterfall also featured for Worksop. Hamza Bencherif, another ex-Imp, appeared as well but was unable to prevent defeat.

Meanwhile, in the National League South, Andy Carroll — the former Liverpool striker — was on target for Dagenham & Redbridge, scoring the only goal in a 1–0 win away at Chippenham Town, a side Lincoln fans will remember all too well from that FA Cup upset.

Across the Irish Sea

There was further interest in Northern Ireland, where a former Imp and two current players were involved across different clubs.

At Glenavon, managed by former City man Michael O’Connor, it was a tough afternoon as his side lost 1–0 at Dungannon Swifts. They’re still rooted to the bottom of the table.

And at Coleraine, there was involvement for Zane Okoro, who helped his team to a 2–0 victory over Portadown. Okoro’s shot was tipped over the bar to win the corner that led to the opening goal, before Shevlin and Cooper sealed the points. Portadown’s goalkeeper had been sent off earlier in the game.

Elsewhere, MJ Kamara, currently on loan at Glentoran, watched from the bench as his side beat Crusaders 3–2 thanks to a last-minute winner.
