League One October 25th Round-Up

It wasn’t just the Imps in action this weekend. There was a full schedule of League One matches, and some surprise scorelines.

Exeter City 2–0 Plymouth Argyle

On a packed Thursday night at St James Park, Exeter claimed a vital Devon derby win in front of 8,262 supporters. Cole struck on 18 minutes before Higgins doubled the advantage midway through the second half, assisted by Brierley. P

Plymouth rarely threatened and slipped to 22nd after their eighth defeat, while the result lifted Exeter to 18th with 16 points.

Bolton Wanderers 1–0 Cardiff City

In front of 22,587 at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, Bolton snatched all three points at the death through Cozier-Duberry, set up by Dacres-Cogley in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Cardiff’s defeat ended their stay at the top, allowing Stevenage to draw level on 26 points, while Bolton’s win keeps them 7th and only three points off Lincoln in 6th.

Mansfield Town 1–1 Wigan Athletic

Mansfield were held at the One Call Stadium after Evans opened the scoring from a Moriah-Welsh pass on 32 minutes. Cooper equalised for Wigan on 59, assisted by Fox.

The Stags stay 8th on 19 points, while Wigan sit 13th, their fifth draw of the campaign. Both sides will feel they missed an opportunity to close the gap on the top half.

AFC Wimbledon 0–1 Burton Albion

At The Cherry Red Records Stadium, Burton continued their upturn with a narrow win thanks to Hartridge’s 51st-minute finish from Webster’s cross.

The attendance was 7,911, as Burton moved up to 20th with 15 points. Wimbledon remain 5th on 25 after a frustrating evening where they dominated possession but failed to find a way through.

Barnsley 0–1 Rotherham United

Rotherham earned their first victory at Oakwell in over half a century, winning before 12,468 fans thanks to Spence’s 64th-minute strike.

The Millers jumped to 15th with 17 points after three successive wins, while Barnsley stay 11th following a third straight match without a victory. It was a tight Yorkshire derby decided by a single moment of quality.

Northampton Town 0–1 Luton Town

At Sixfields in front of 8,029, Luton secured a late win to mark Jack Wilshere’s first victory in charge. Fanne netted the winner on 77 minutes from a Jones assist to move Luton up to 10th on 19 points.

Northampton dropped to 16th, their third loss in four, as their home form continues to frustrate supporters.

Peterborough United 1–2 Blackpool

A crowd of 8,315 at the Weston Homes Stadium saw Blackpool fight back to claim their first away win of the season.

A Kioso own goal gave them an early lead before Garbett equalised for Posh. Banks, set up by Brown, scored an 85th-minute winner.

Blackpool climb to 23rd on 12 points; Peterborough stay bottom with 10, and are now on the lookout for a new manager.

Reading 1–1 Doncaster Rovers

More than 12,000 were at the SCL Stadium to see Reading and Doncaster share the points. Sharp opened for Doncaster on 61 minutes before Doyle, assisted by Wing, equalised seven minutes later.

Reading sit 19th on 15 points, while Doncaster remain 12th with 18. It was a scrappy contest lacking the cutting edge both sides needed.

Stevenage 1–1 Bradford City

Two promotion contenders cancelled each other out at the Lamex Stadium, watched by 5,279. Byrne headed Bradford ahead from a Touray cross after just three minutes, but White levelled for Stevenage on 18. The draw keeps both clubs on 26 points, joint top of League One, with goal difference separating them from Cardiff.

Wycombe Wanderers 3–0 Huddersfield Town

A crowd of 5,738 at Adams Park witnessed Wycombe’s biggest win of the season. Woodrow broke the deadlock before May’s 25th-minute red card left Huddersfield undone.

Onyedinma, teed up by Henderson, made it two, and a Vost own goal completed the scoring. Wycombe move to 17th with 16 points; Huddersfield remain 9th after a sixth defeat.
