Crystal Palace have appointed Andy Quy as their new First Team Goalkeeping Coach, with the former Lincoln City coach taking on the Premier League role after departing Huddersfield Town.
Quy replaces Dean Kiely, who left Selhurst Park in the summer following more than seven years in the position. Club legend Julian Speroni temporarily stepped in while Palace searched for a permanent successor.
Experienced and well-travelled
Quy brings a wealth of experience from a coaching career spanning more than two decades. He previously served as goalkeeping coach at Stoke City, Brentford, and Charlotte FC, where he also worked as Assistant Coach, before joining Huddersfield Town in the Championship. Earlier in his career, he was involved in goalkeeping development roles with Derby County, Aston Villa, and Burton Albion.
A former goalkeeper himself, Quy began his playing career at Tottenham Hotspur but did not make a senior appearance. He went on to represent Hereford United in the fifth tier before injury forced him to retire early and move into coaching.

Imps Career
Quy was an academy coach at Aston Villa and Derby County after finishing his career, but his first senior experience was as our First Team Goalkeeping Coach. He joined the club in September 2006, leaving Aston Villa to join John Deehan at Sincil Bank.
Working with Alan Marriott, Simon Rayner and Bobby Olejnik (on loan from Villa), Quy not only coached our keepers but was also involved in talent identification. However, his role with the club ended in October 2007, when Deehan and Schofield also departed the club.
Focus on performance and innovation
Speaking about his new role, Quy said his responsibilities will include leading all first-team goalkeeper sessions, preparing his players for the demands of the Premier League, and integrating performance analysis and modern technology into daily training.
“This role plays a critical part in sustaining Crystal Palace’s competitive edge in the Premier League,” he said, “by ensuring the club’s goalkeepers are prepared, resilient, and capable of influencing games at the highest level.”
Quy’s appointment adds another chapter to an impressive coaching career that began after his early playing retirement, including the spell with City that helped shape his development into one of English football’s most respected goalkeeping specialists.
