Best Performing Top Five

2020/21 Third Kit (2.14 PPG)
It’s no surprise that in the one season we were top six, the away and third kits stand out. The best is the green third kit, worn on seven occasions and hauling 15 points, making it a real good luck charm.
We didn’t lose in it at all, and we progressed in the EFL Trophy on it’s solitary outing against Hull City.

2020/21 Away Kit (2 PPG)
This kit has impressive numbers as well. We wore it 15 times in the league, bringing home 30 points. Notably, we’d only lost once in it away from home all season going into March. Then, we lost against Oxford United, Charlton, Sunderland and Blackpool!
Cup wise, we won three, losing to Sunderland on penalties, so not actually being beaten in the cup at all. It bucks the trend for dark kits, by the way, as you’ll see.

2023/24 Away Kit (1.92 PPG)
A nice kit, and a decent return in 2022/23. It was certainly helped by being worn at Barnsley, which is one of those memorable away days that stick in the mind. We wore it twice more after that, big wins at Carlisle and Oxford, which help boost it’s numbers.
It was also the kit we wore when beating Sheffield United in the League Cup, making it one of the better ones in terms of stats.

2023/24 Third Kit (1.71 PPG)
Another double, and not surprisingly, another season we finished in the top ten. This third kit is beautiful, although I hated it at first!
it’s worth noting that should current season kits be included, which I have not as we haven’t had a full season, our lilac kit this season would be here, on 1.75 PPG and a cup win (against Harrogate Town).
We’d only taken three points from the first four games we wore the 23/24 third kit, and been beaten by Derby in the EFL Trophy, but that late run gave it a leg up – wins against Burton Albion, Port Vale and Cheltenham.

2024/25 Third Kit (1.29)
Don’t worry, it pains me too, but the blackout kit that I so desperately wanted to be proven to be one of our worst, is in the top five in terms of performance.
There is a huge drop off from the first four, as you’d expect from seasons we were outside the top seven teams, but actually, this one did best of the ‘also-ran’ seasons.
The late win against Reading gave it a boost, but credible draws with Huddersfield and Wigan helped as well. Maybe I just didn’t like it, because it certainly did better than anything else outside of our two serious play-off challenges.
