The International Games To Keep An Eye On This Weekend

City have two players called up for international fixtures this weekend, Ivan Varfolomeev and Dexter Lembikisa.

Cruelly, Justin Obikwu missed out on a call-up for the Trinidad and Tobago squad, which faces a vital double-header of matches, one a real make-or-break against a City teammate.

The Reggae Boyz have two vital matches, the first against Trinidad and Tobago. That takes place at midnight tonight, and a win there will end the Soca Warriors’ World Cup ambitions. Managed by Steve McClaren, another former Imp, they know a win will give them a real chance of making it to the FIFA showcase event.

If they do win, then avoiding defeat in their home fixture with Curaçao at midnight on November 19th will see them make the World Cup. If they fail to beat Trinidad, then they’ll likely need a win against Curaçao, who will likely feature a player who scored against the Imps this weekend, Ar’jany Martha.

Tomorrow, at 5 pm, Ivan Varfolomeev will line up against Turkey in the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadyumu, Istanbul. It’s a huge clash, as his Ukraine Under 21 side are a point behind Turkey, on the same number of matches.

With Croatia second with four points and Hungary only one behind, this is a crucial game that may not define the group, but would give them a major boost as they look toward Euro 2027.

On Monday, again at 5 pm, they have a friendly against Albania Under 21s. Nothing at stake, and let’s hope he doesn’t play, so he comes back fresh for Wycombe.
