O’Brien-Brady Grabs His Chance Under New Peterborough Boss
Donay O’Brien-Brady made a timely impact for Peterborough United in midweek, scoring a stoppage time winner in the Vertu Trophy at Crawley Town that carried extra significance under new boss Luke Williams.
The midfielder’s late strike secured progression to a last 32 tie away at League Two side Swindon Town and ended a personal drought, with his previous goal coming in a league victory over Stevenage in October 2024.
“It’s been hard at times with some big ups and downs,” O’Brien-Brady told the club’s media.
His appearance off the bench was one of his first real opportunities to impress Williams since the former Swansea City head coach took charge at London Road, and the 21-year-old underlined that substitutes are expected to affect games whenever they enter the pitch. He described the feeling of celebrating a decisive late goal in front of the travelling support as a big moment, particularly in a competition that now offers a clear route into the knockout stages.
“The previous gaffer was a very good manager and very successful, but the new gaffer brings with him new ideas and a new chance for everyone,” he added.
O’Brien-Brady believes the squad is in a good place after three wins from three under Williams and is determined to build on his contribution.
