Evatt Expects Demanding Afternoon Against Bowyer’s Burton Albion
Blackpool head coach Ian Evatt expects a demanding afternoon when his side travel to the Pirelli Stadium to face Gary Bowyer’s Burton Albion in League One.
The Seasiders arrive looking to extend a run of three straight wins, but they meet a Brewers side shaped by their former manager, who guided them to safety last season after taking charge in December.
“I’m very respectful of him, I think he’s a good man and a good manager who is very experienced,” Evatt said.
Bowyer, whose previous roles include Blackburn Rovers, Salford City, Bradford City and a successful period at Blackpool, has given Burton a clear structure and identity. Evatt recalled working alongside him during his younger days at Derby County and believes that his success at the Pirelli Stadium comes as no surprise. He emphasised that the competition for managerial opportunities is intense and that patience often determines when the right job appears.
“When he’s been given the opportunity again, he’s grasped it with both hands, and I expected nothing different,” he added.
Blackpool know they must maintain momentum if they hope to climb away from danger, yet Evatt is under no illusions about the challenge Burton will pose on home turf.
