Rinomhota Returns To Reading Until End Of Season

Reading have confirmed the return of academy graduate Andy Rinomhota, who has rejoined the Royals until the end of the season after a successful trial at Bearwood.

The versatile midfielder previously spent seven years with Reading between 2015 and 2022, making 139 appearances and scoring four goals before departing for Cardiff City. His breakthrough came during the 2018/19 campaign when he was named the club’s Player of the Season, and he later played an important part in helping Reading preserve their Championship status in 2021/22.

Rinomhota arrives with considerable experience accumulated during his time with Cardiff, where he made 82 appearances and was voted Players’ Player of the Season in 2024/25. Crucially, he also reunites with current Reading manager Leam Richardson, having spent time under him while on loan at Rotherham United during the 2023/24 campaign.

“I’ve worked with Andy before and know exactly what he’ll bring to the squad, energy, honesty and a real desire to win,” Richardson said.

The Reading boss added that Rinomhota understands the club and what it represents, and believes supporters will be pleased to see him return. The midfielder is eligible to make his second debut when Reading host former club Rotherham United on 22 November, and he will wear the number 18 shirt as he begins his new spell at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
