Chris Cohen

I don’t have a picture of Chris Cohen, but I think we’ve got to look at him coming in as a big moment for the club. Cohen came in on January 13th, and when did our unbeaten run start? January 13th. Undoubtedly, having a man who has coached Premier League players and assisted in getting Luton up the divisions will be a big addition behind the scenes. Again, he’s not the reason we’re on the up, but I think he is a big factor. I’m not alone – several people have messaged me asking us to discuss his impact on the podcast.
I think you only have to look at certain managers from the past and how performances changed when key backroom staff members left. In my time, there’s the Neil McDonald and Peter Jackson dynamic that people loved, something that many perceive to have shifted when Neil left and Iffy came in. Mike Garritty had a big impact when he came in under MK, but perhaps we saw things tail off when Danny Butterfield replaced him. That’s not to say Butts or Iffy were bad at their jobs, far from it, but sometimes certain people are just really good at what they do. The classic example is, of course, Brian Clough and Peter Taylor, albeit not at Lincoln.
