Imps Striker Out For ‘Six Weeks’ In Latest Injury Blow

Loan striker Bailey Cadamarteri is out for up to six weeks, as revealed by Michael Skubala in this week’s press conference.

The Sheffield Wednesday man is the Imps leading scorer with eight goals, but he’s now due a spell on the sidelines, leaving us with just four fit strikers. He joins Tyler Walker on the treatment table, with Rob Street having gone out on loan to Doncaster for minutes.

“We’ve lost Bailey for a few weeks,” confirmed Michael. “So we’re down to four at the moment. When (does) Bailey come back? Probably in about six weeks, which is not ideal because Bailey’s been developing really well. But we’ve lost him through an adductor injury in training.

“So we’re down to four at the minute. Obviously, Tyler’s still injured for the foreseeable, so we’ve probably got four fit strikers in the building at the minute. We need five because, like Bailey, they get injured and get niggles. With how we want to play and be aggressive, it’s important. Five is a good number for us, and they’ll all get minutes and we’ll be raring to go.”

One of those five is new signing James Collins, who is expected to play a part against Peterborough United this weekend. Another player who could be in contention is former Premier League midfielder Sam Clucas, who has most recently been with Oldham Athletic.

“Sammy is getting closer,” added Michael. “He’s had a good training week this week, and he’s definitely there, wanting to be selected and ready for selection this week.

“He’s getting closer and closer, but it’s about getting him up to speed with how we want to play. He’s probably coming from a different direction to James and hasn’t been trained as long as James at this level. You can see Sam’s quality on the ball—he’s got fantastic quality.”

However, in further bad news, midfielder Jack Moylan is also set for a spell on the sidelines. He rolled his ankle on the poor Sixfields turf during our win this weekend, and he could be out for the rest of the season.

Michael confirmed he’ll be assessed this week, but described the injury as a ‘tough one’ confirming it could be six weeks, or it could be the rest of the season.
