Port Vale’s Darren Moore says position “not a true reflection” after Stockport defeat
Port Vale boss Darren Moore believes their league placing is not representative of performances after a 3-0 loss to Stockport County.
The result left Vale in 21st with just three wins from fourteen matches, but Moore told BBC Radio Stoke that displays have been stronger than results suggest.
He praised the defensive work across the season, while accepting soft concessions proved costly against the leaders at Vale Park. Early missed chances were pivotal, with Vale failing to convert two clear openings inside the first ten minutes before Stockport took control.
Moore highlighted the quality of the opposition and said the group will learn from the setback ahead of an FA Cup tie this weekend against Maldon & Tiptree.
“The boys are not showing a real true reflection in terms of where we’re at. Defensively this season we’ve been fine, really, really good, so to give soft goals away was the most disappointing part.”
“We almost needed a flawless display against this lot because they are a top, top team. But the group will certainly learn from that.”
