Former Lincoln City loanee Morgan Rogers has signed a new long-term contract with Aston Villa, keeping him at Villa Park until 2031.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder enjoyed a breakout 2024/25 campaign, scoring eight goals and providing ten assists in the Premier League. His performances earned him the PFA Young Player of the Year award and a first England senior call-up in November 2024.

Rogers’ form had attracted interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, but Villa have moved quickly to secure his future with a new deal.

A club statement confirmed:

“Aston Villa is delighted to announce that Morgan Rogers has signed a new contract with the club. The England international has agreed a deal that will keep him at Villa until 2031.”

The Halesowen-born midfielder joined Villa from Middlesbrough in February 2024 and has since become a key figure under Unai Emery.

Rogers’ rise has been impressive since his early days at City, where he spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan from Manchester City. During that spell, he scored six goals in 28 League One appearances, adding an assist for Brennan Johnson in the 4-0 mauling of MK Dons.

His goals were instrumental in helping the Imps reach the play-offs under Michael Appleton. He bagged a leveller against Ipswich and a winner at Portsmouth during a strong spell, but went nine games without a goal involvement, finishing with a blank at Wembley in the play-off final.

His development since leaving Sincil Bank has seen him progress through the England youth ranks and establish himself as one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents.

It marks another milestone in the career of a player once tipped for big things at Lincoln, now fulfilling that potential on the highest domestic stage.
