My Favoured Starting XI for Exeter City

CM: Michael O’Connor

The one thing we are missing, to a degree, is Alex Woodyard. That industry in front of the back four is crucial to our game, whether we’re playing long ball or not. Last year both Bozzie and Woodyard played it, this season we’ve struggled to find the right player.

Once he’s on method and fit, Michael O’Connor is my pick. I’ve always liked O’Connor, ever since he first appeared for us all those years ago. He’s not shown his best in an Imps shirt this time around, but he need minutes and the battle with Nicky Law will be crucial tomorrow.

  1. Not so bullish about two of your selections as yourself Gary. Anderson may well start today but long term I think Danny is looking for players in the wide positions with good technical ability… Harry has made some progress but I’m sure that whilst he gets people off their seats with.his bull in a China shop type runs they quickly end up back on their seats because the evidence may suggest that there is little end product… Long term I suggest will see one of the Newby loaders in that position. Away to Exeter may not be the right game for Scott’s return. He will be ring rusty and although he is commanding in the air I think he is prone to mistakes on the ground. ShacKell and Boswick seem to be forming a good partnership at the back and they were dominant against County so I see them retaining their partnership.
