Beast Mode On
How does he do it? 37-years-old and built like a wrestler, Adebayo Akinfenwa has earned yet another deal with Wycombe Wanderers. he wasn’t quite as prolific last season, he bagged six in all competitions, but he’ll be terrorising defenders with his presence for the 19th season of his career.
Few realise he began over in Lithuania with FK Atlantas, but has since done the rounds at many clubs, including our local ‘rivals’ Boston United. He’s certainly a cult hero these days and well-loved by anyone who doesn’t have to defend against him.
He’s penned a one-year deal with Gareth Ainsworth’s side.
Bristol Rovers add two to ranks
Hot on the heels of picking up former Bolton man Mark Little, Bristol Rovers have added two more defenders to their squad.
The first is Tom Davies, a name you may find familiar. He spent time on loan with us back in the dark days of the National League but has most recently been with Coventry City. He’s also been with Portsmouth in recent years and is a steady and accomplished League One defender.
In addition to that, they’ve signed Eastleigh’s Josh Hare after his contract expired on the south coast. He made the National League play-off semi-finals with the Spitfires, a year after signing on a free from Maidstone United. His performances also earned him a place in the National League 2018/19 Team of the Season.
Carey makes big European move
It might be a wise move, my Dad is in Bulgaria right now and he’s sent me pictures of himself on the beach (not nudes), so perhaps Carey has been swung by that. Perhaps it’s the lure of Europa League football, but it’s certainly a move out of left field.
Carey had been in good form for Plymouth, he has goals and assists in his locker and would have made a solid signing for any League One side. Sadly, none can offer European football, nor a sunny beach.
