Attack

LW – Morgan Rogers
I think Rogers has found some consistency in recent weeks and has been unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. At times, his decision making does let him down, but his work rate has got loads better and he is always a threat. He’s a tall player, he has a great range on him when he uses it wisely and he is tough to knock off the ball when he gets his head down. With all the talk of Ellis Simms, I think the Man City youngster has slipped under the radar a bit of late but he should be underestimated at his peril. I thought him and Johnson would like having a crowd to silence at Sunderland last week, I may have been a bit off target with that, but I do know they both fed off the noise and energy at the Bank the week before. I wonder if they can do the same at Wembley.
RW – Brennan Johnson
This man’s contribution to our season should not be understated or underestimated. He’s been sensational at times, a real thorn in the side of opponents. I like him out wide, cutting in and having a bit of a free reign, perhaps more so than through the midfield. I’d like to see him start on the right, rather than as a de facto ten, which is what he is when picked in the midfield. If he starts with Grant and Brdcutt we’re effectively a 4-2-3-1, whereas the formation I have selected here is more of a 4-1-2-3, or 4-3-3 in old money. It is a shame we won’t get to see him in a City shirt again, his time with us will end and he will be a part of Forest’s team next season, but I wonder if he might like to go out with a bang.
CF – Tom Hopper
I can’t see the words ‘Tom’ and ‘Hopper’ without the words ‘Whippin Excursion’ now, something I feel is a bit of a curse. Tom must have thought he was cursed after the Posh game, he told local media he took the miss against them badly, a goal that would have made the game 4-1 and rendered John Busby’s mistake irrelevant. I think he’s made up for it now though, don’t you? His goals in the semi-finals have sent us here and he is a ‘streaky’ player. He got three in seven in December and January, then three in five in February too. He is playing with confidence and despite having more pitch to cover this weekend, I think Tom is a player in form and on his game, which bodes well for us.
