Lincoln City Foundation’s Fighting Fit programme came out victors at the recent Active Lincolnshire Sport and Physical Activity awards as they were recognised in the Impact on Health category.

The Foundation’s cancer-care programme has grown exponentially in the past year, with sites opened in six different locations across Lincolnshire.

Head of healthier communities Alice Carter said: “It’s hard to find words for how much this means to everyone associated with Fighting Fit.

“I’m incredibly proud of everyone involved in running the sessions and the participants who have made this possible.”

Fighting Fit session leader Phillip Watson was also full of pride at how far the group has come and what they have achieved.

“Hats off to everyone involved, from the people at the Foundation to the people who come week in week out to our sessions.

“This award just helps us continue to raise awareness of Fighting Fit, and it’s deserved because it is such an amazing programme.”

Having seen Fighting Fit first-hand, both on my visit to the Foundation last year and as a relative of a cancer survivor who they have helped, it gives me great joy to see the team rewarded for their hard work.
The Foundation changes lives on a daily basis across the community, and its work should be recognised in this way for the good it does.

Well done to everyone involved.
