Adam Jackson has put pen to paper on a contract extension with the Imps keeping him at the club until June 2027 with an opportunity to trigger a further year based on appearances.
The defender, a favourite of the Stacey West, could now feasibly smash the 200 appearances barrier, with 164 his current total. Given that many thought he might depart this summer, this is a big step to secure a player who could well be on his way to Imps legend status.
The centre-back has made the first of his appearances in red and white in the 2020/21 campaign, where the Imps made it to the League One play-off final. He joined City in August 2020 on a permanent deal from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian.

The 31-year-old is City’s joint longest serving player and is now heading into his sixth season at the Bank having started that journey with a goal, and clean sheet, against Oxford United in the opening League One game in the 2020/21 season which culminated in a trip to Wembley.
Head coach Michael Skubala said: “Adam is a valued member of the group, highly respected within the dressing room and a consistently top performer at this level. He adds experience to the squad on and off the pitch, trains well every day and sets standards for our young players.
“With Tom Hamer, Sonny Bradley, Ryley Towler and Lewis Montsma we have a really strong unit in a crucial area of the pitch with an array of attributes that provides us with flexibility and good competition.”

City’s director of football Jez George added “In modern football a player remaining at one club for so long is rare, so we really value Adam’s loyalty. It speaks volumes of him as a person.
“Adam has always represented the club in an exemplary manner, on and off the pitch, wearing the armband on many occasions, and that leadership is felt every day at the Elite Performance Centre.”
