Bristol Rovers have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Ryan De Havilland from Peterborough United, with the 24-year-old agreeing a two-and-a-half year contract at the Memorial Stadium.
The deal, confirmed by both clubs on Saturday, sees De Havilland make the move for an undisclosed fee as Peterborough prepare for the trip to Sincil Bank tomorrow.
Posh confirmed the transfer after the midfielder completed the formalities with the League Two side, bringing an end to his spell at London Road after 18 months with the club. De Havilland joined Posh from Barnet in June 2023 and went on to make 70 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals during that period.
Rovers moved quickly to conclude the deal following the appointment of Steve Evans, with De Havilland becoming the club’s first signing of the window. Speaking after putting pen to paper, the midfielder said chats with Evans helped make up his mind
“It feels really good to be here. It’s been very quick, but I’m very happy to be here and get going. Speaking to the gaffer about the aspirations of the Club, it just felt like the right thing for me right now.
“It’s a very busy period, but I’m very happy to get it done so quickly, as it’s early in January, so I can just hit the ground running. Bristol Rovers is a massive Club, and it shouldn’t be where it is in League Two, and I’ll try my best to give my all to get it where it should be.”

From Peterborough’s perspective, the move brings a close to a solid stint for the midfielder, who featured regularly in League One last season but found opportunities more limited during the opening months of the current campaign. The club thanked De Havilland for his efforts and wished him well in the next chapter of his career.
De Havilland’s background includes time in Fulham’s academy before senior spells with Barnet, where he built a reputation as a hard-working and versatile midfielder. His experience across the EFL, including 50 League One appearances for Peterborough, is expected to add depth and energy to the Rovers engine room as they look to climb the League Two table.
The midfielder was unlikely to appear against the Imps, although he was part of the side thumped 5-1 at the Bank in January 2025.
