Is Dan Bradley the next scarf waver?

Danny Cowley announced after the win against Tranmere that he hoped to have a midfielder on board by the time we entertain Solihull.

Rumours have linked us with a couple of midfielders such as Tom Champion and James Weslowski. However it is Alfreton captain Dan Bradley who could offer an interesting option.

Midfielder Bradley has been on the Imps radar before.  After impressing at Alfreton he left for Barnet in 2014 only to leave two months later. He hadn’t realised Barnet would want him to move from Birmingham and he decided the move wasn’t viable. The Imps were linked with him then but he chose to return to Alfreton.

He’s currently their club captain and on Saturday he scored the goal that ended Harrogate’s unbeaten start to the season. He’s also an ex England C international and that indicates a level of quality as seen in Alex Woodyard and Sam Habergham.

So far this season he has hit seven goals which means he’s a goal scoring midfielder which at the moment we don’t have. He’d offer something alongside Alex Woodyard that would allow Bradley Wood to drop back to his most effective position at right back.

I like the sound of Bradleys pedigree and his performances for Alfreton often caught the eye. He’d certainly be another dimension to an already frightening attacking force but also allow us to return to our stellar back four of Wood, Habergham, Waterall and Raggett. Lee Beevers has done well but ultimately we need our strongest back four playing regularly to build up an understanding.

Of course I could be wrong in the assumption we are looking for an attacking midfielder. Bradley Wood is defence minded so perhaps we’re looking for a defensive midfielder that breaks up play and creates the goals? We’re not short of fire power at the moment, nor are we leaking lots of goals.

So will it be Dan Bradley who gets the scarf out next week or will the journey from Birmingham to Lincoln be too much for him? He’d certainly be an interesting addition to our burgeoning squad. Could he be the new player to witness a sixth straight win on Tuesday night?
