Robinson joins on short term deal

Former Premier League striker Theo Robinson has agreed a short term deal with Lincoln ahead of today’s clash at Bromley.

Robinson has been training with the club for a couple of weeks and with the injury to Adam Marriott the management have decided to offer a short term deal.

Speaking to local media Danny Cowley said:

“We’re pleased to have brought Theo in on a month to month deal. He’s played at the top level and will bring a lot of experience and movement to the team. It’s a short-term deal which suits both parties.”

Robinson started his career with Watford but it was whilst at Huddersfield and Derby that he made his name as a tricky and pacey striker. He has been capped seven times for Jamaica and at 27 years old he still has the potential to play at a higher level.

With Macauley Bonne suffering from an illness this week the squad has looked a little exposed and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Robinson in and around the squad until the January transfer window. I imagine he will be looking to put himself in the shop window in order to try and find a league club, and for Danny he will want to assess the player without committing to a longer deal.

I’m told Theo has trained very well since his goal against a Peterborough XI in a behind closed doors friendly a couple of weeks ago. He looks very much the perfect foil for Matt Rhead and will add even more pace to an already explosive forward line.

Expect to see him feature at some point today against a Bromley defence that doesn’t have a great deal of pace in it.
