Dover strengthen for play-off push

Dover have signalled their ambition by bringing in two good signings this week.

Midfielder Nicky Deverdics has signed on an initial one month loan deal from Hartlepool, and defender Bondz NGala has come in until the end of the season.

Deverdics is no stranger to Dover, having left them for Hartlepool in the summer. The 29-year-old has scored two goals in 24 appearances since joining Pools.

Deverdics scored 16 goals in all competitions last season for Dover, and he will be a massive asset in the final weeks of the season.

NGala was due to sign for Gillingham this transfer window, but the loan was cancelled after it was discovered hed already played for two sides. He played for Barnet and Eastleigh earlier this campaign, and rules state a player cannot appear for more than two teams in one season.

Dover say they have been allowed to sign him following talks with the Football Association and English Football League, but exactly what loophole has been exploited is unknown at this stage.

N’Gala started his career at West Ham, and became Eastleigh’s record signing when they bought him from the Barnet in November.

Both players are likely to feature heavily for Dover in the run in. Of all the play-off chasing teams they perhaps have the most comfortable final few months of the season, with just Tranmere and Barrow the only other top sides to appear on their schedule.

They also signed talented midfielder James Caton last week as they look to push for a place in the Football League.
