Winger Jordan Williams looks set to leave Barrow after it emerged he has been attracting interest from higher up the pyramid.
A statement from Barrow read: “Jordan Williams has again been attracting a number of firm transfer offers from football clubs in both League One and League Two. Due to the level of interest and the opportunities that are opening for Jordan’s continuing development, the club feel that it is in his best interests for him to talk to the clubs involved and to make a considered and informed decision about his future. He is obviously very welcome to continue his development at the FBS Stadium.”
The North West Mail are reporting that Sincil Bank is one of his potential destinations, and now Barrow are resigned to losing him, we may emerge as front runners in the chase to sign him. So who is Jordan Williams?
Williams is a winger / centre forward who has really shone out at Holker Street over the past two seasons. He joined from Northwich Victoria two seasons ago, and has made 67 starts for Barrow, with just three from the bench. He scored 20 goals for the Bluebirds during his year and a half with the club, and he attracted interest last summer as well as in the January window. In our clash at Sincil Bank is was a Williams cross that lead to Byron Harrison scoring the late winner. At 24-years old he is hungry for league football, and he fits the bill as a talented non-league player that Danny has suggested he will sign in the summer.
It could just be the case that every non-league player looking for a step up is going to be linked with Lincoln. We’re obviously going to be recruiting players, and having first hand experience of the quality in non-league perhaps these papers are looking for an easy story. Perhaps not.
