Callum Howe’s stuttering Imps career finally came to an end today as he signed for Port Vale for an undisclosed fee.
Highly-rated Howe has been incredibly unlucky at Sincil Bank, two superb loan spells at Southport and Eastleigh haven’t been enough to force him into contention. Since his return to the Bank earlier this month he hasn’t featured and now he’s got a Football league move that he craves.
It is likely to be a nominal undisclosed fee and his departure will doubtless cause many discussions amongst fans. There is a large section of support who feel he hasn’t been given ample opportunity at Sincil Bank, but with James Wilson and Michael Bostwick both fighting Luke Waterfall for a centre half spot, it just seems as though there isn’t room at the table for a fourth defender.
Howe is the first departure of deadline day, although one more is expected before 11pm. Activity is likely to pick up in the next hour or two as Danny finalises his squad for the second half of the season.
Best of luck at Port Vale Callum, you’re a class act and I have no doubt you’ll go on to achieve plenty in the Football League
Sad to see him go , really not quite sure what the guy had to do , made captain at both of his loan clubs .
Just hope this one doesn’t come back to haunt us .
